I wish you knew how much I love you. And no matter what, I will love you fully and completely. The more you open up and show, the more lovable you are. Not less. The fear of being real is the very thing that builds barriers of isolation.
I’m learning that being human is not something to run from or hide. It’s the very thing that ties us together and makes us the same. We all have anxiety, shame, rage, grief, pain, joy, delight. We all share the desire to love and be loved. And we can choose whether to feel all of it or none of it. For choosing a life of love also welcomes all the less welcome darkness.
Want to hear the most important thing I’ve learned through this transformation from robot to human? It’s impossible to block out all the intrusive, uncomfortable feelings without also stifling the magic of life. Suppressing the lows doesn’t stop there. It claims the highs too, leaving behind nothing but nothingness.
I’m sorry I was ashamed to let you see me cry and showed that you shouldn’t cry either. I want to feel everything you feel, both the darkness and light. By feeling together, the darkness gets lighter and the world gets brighter.
I have just one request. Please let me feel these feelings, both big and small, heavy and light. Be brave with me as I peel off the robotics, layer by layer. You may not like what we find.
Love me anyway.
